Candace Savage wins Weston Prize

Litfest chose its authors well this year! Several authors were nominated for major prizes this fall and Candace Savage, who appeared at A Brunch of Writers and Fauna, has won the prestigious Hilary Weston Prize for Nonfiction. The announcement was made Monday evening in Toronto.

Candace won for her book A Geography of Blood: Unearthing Memory from a Prairie Landscape published by Greystone Books and the David Suzuki Foundation. The Weston Prize is administered by the Writers' Trust of Canada and, at $60,000, is the richest literary prize for nonfiction in Canada.
